Stage 1: Raw material storage
The storage system depends on:
− The nature of raw material
− Method of delivery
− Continuity of supply
Stage 2: Feed preparation
Purification and preparation of raw material for reaction stage (if any)
− Purity
− Form / shape
− Composition
− Operation conditions (temperature, pressure)
Stage 3: Reaction
− The center of chemical industrial process
− Production of desired product, by-product and un-wanted compounds
Stage 4: Product separation
− The products are separated from un-reacted raw material and waste
− Recycling the un-reacted raw material to the Feed preparation or Reaction stage
Stage 5: Product purification
Main product and by-product need purification to meet product specification
Stage 6: Product storage
Inventory of finished products much be held to match production with sales.
